California Highway Patrol arrived on scene, where they discovered that two vehicles collided head-on with each other due to a wrong-way driver who was traveling west in the eastbound lane of the highway. Both vehicles sustained immense front-end damage as a result.

Paramedics and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene following the accident. The driver of the wrong-way Chevy Malibu, a woman in her 30s, was injured and hospitalized. The other driver, a woman in her 50s driving a Honda Accord, was also injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Police confirmed that the wrong-way driver is now facing felony DUI charges.
