Salinas, as with many other areas of California, take pedestrian safety seriously. However, injurious and fatal pedestrian accidents continue to happen throughout Salinas. According to California’s Transportation Injury Mapping System (TIMS), a total of 56 pedestrian accidents occurred in Salinas in 2022. Out of these accidents, one life was lost and 60 people sustained injuries.
Drivers are supposed to follow a duty of care to protect pedestrians from harm on our roads. However, drivers engage in many reckless acts in Salinas every year such as distracted driving, drunk driving, speeding, and more. This can quickly lead to a life-altering pedestrian accident with serious injuries. Injured pedestrians should always be aware of their rights after they have been hurt in an accident.

Financial Assistance for Victims of Salinas Pedestrian Accidents
Because pedestrians have no protection from harm in the event of an accident, they are likely to sustain devastating and catastrophic injuries when struck by a vehicle. Luckily, there are options for financial support for these vulnerable parties. Filing an insurance claim or a personal injury lawsuit are some of the best options for recovery after an accident.
Some of the damages that you may be able to receive in a pedestrian accident claim include:
- Medical expenses you have incurred or expect to incur due to an injury
- Loss of income due to missed time at work
- Pain and suffering damages
- Rehabilitation costs
- Travel costs to and from your doctor’s appointments
- Loss of enjoyment of life
After a pedestrian accident, it is important to note that you could have a limited timeframe to bring a successful claim. In California, the statute of limitations is two years from the time that you discover your injury until you can no longer bring a claim.
