Through a preliminary investigation, police discovered that a 30-year-old female was walking north across the highway while a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado was headed east in the area. The Silverado was traveling around 55 miles per hour in the number one lane when the driver collided with the pedestrian due to reasons that remain under investigation.
Police confirmed that the driver of the truck, who was not injured, remained on scene and called police. The pedestrian was tragically pronounced deceased on scene due to traumatic injuries.
A portion of the road was blocked in the area for some time after the accident.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the accident at this time.
