Man Killed in Fatal Car Accident at Highway 180 and Hayes Avenue in Fresno
On Wednesday morning, a man was killed in a fatal car accident that took place at a Fresno intersection. According to ABC30, the accident happened around 7 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 180 and Hayes Avenue on the morning of December 6, 2023.
When California Highway Patrol officials arrived on scene, they found that a red Honda was headed south on Hayes when the driver drove through a stop sign. A Hyundai headed west on Highway 180 also went through the intersection and was unable to stop in time, slamming into a door on the Honda.
Paramedics and several other Fresno responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. A man inside the Honda, who has not been formally identified, was tragically pronounced dead on scene. A woman in the Hyundai was rushed to the hospital with major injuries, though her current condition is not yet known.
The road was blocked in multiple lanes at the intersection for some time. This led to delays in the area.
No further details have been released at this time. California Highway Patrol continues its investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
