California Highway Patrol rushed to the scene and discovered that a Ford Expedition was traveling in the area when the driver struck a bicyclist at the intersection due to unknown reasons. The Ford vehicle ended up on its side as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The bicyclist, who has not yet been formally identified, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Police confirmed that the driver of the Ford was traveling at high speeds when the accident took place. It is not known if anyone was charged for their role in the collision.
