There are many areas of a road that are more dangerous than others and one of these areas is intersections. Within seconds, a driver’s careless actions could put every other driver at an intersection at risk. Drivers at intersections do not always make a complete stop before they pull through an intersection or could miss spotting another driver as they are making a left turn. No matter how the intersection accident happened, it can quickly lead to property damage and life-altering injuries.
Though some intersection accidents are minor fender-benders, others are violent and catastrophic in nature. Injuries such as broken bones, paralysis, traumatic brain injury, and internal organ damage could affect your life for the next few weeks or months. After seeking medical care for these injuries, you may wonder what options you have next.
Two Injured in Rollover Collision in Goleta
On Sunday, July 30, 2023, a rollover accident injured two individuals in Old Town Goleta. According to NewsBreak, the accident took place at 6:42 p.m. at Hollister Avenue and Kellogg Avenue.
Minutes after the accident, emergency responders arrived on the scene to find that two vehicles collided with one another at the intersection. A driver was traveling in the area when they ran a red light, slamming into a Toyota SUV forcefully. The SUV, which completely rolled over as a result, had a green light and the right-of-way at the time.
Both a father and son inside the SUV were injured in the collision. They were both transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
Police discovered that the driver of the first vehicle was possibly driving under the influence at the time of the accident. They took the driver for further assessment but have not said if there are any charges at this time.

Liability in a Santa Barbara County Intersection Accident
An intersection accident can lead to a messy personal injury claim if you are unable to determine fault. In the case of an accident at an intersection, experts would look at which party failed to obey signs, signals, and the laws of the road. Most of these cases end in a police investigation to determine right-of-way and party negligence. Some of the most common reasons for intersection accidents include the following:
- A driver did not stop at a stop sign
- A driver ran a red light
- A driver failed to yield to traffic when they were making a left turn on green
- A driver failed to look for vehicles approaching them when making a right turn on red
Police officers will conduct an investigation and create their police report for use in your claim. However, the fight does not end there, as insurance companies are not on your side and do not always have your best interests in mind.
