Bakersfield’s evening traffic can be hazardous when intersections get busy. A single driver can make a careless error and ignore the traffic laws at an intersection with a traffic light. One motorist’s unexpected advance through an intersection might put a car in the path of vehicles traveling in several other directions.
These small mistakes can cause chain reaction accidents that ultimately endanger the occupants of more than one vehicle. Victims can suffer broken arms and legs and head trauma with weeks of recovery ahead.
Woman Hurt in Three-Car Collision in Bakersfield
A woman was rushed to the hospital after a frightening multi-vehicle crash in Bakersfield Wednesday evening. KGET-TV reported that the accident occurred at the intersection of Union Avenue and Niles Street on July 6, 2023.
The Bakersfield Police Department arrived to help victims and clear the wreckage. A witness told a reporter on the scene that a driver traveling north on Union Avenue had run a red light. This caused the vehicle to strike an eastbound vehicle on Niles Street. A third vehicle appeared to have also been impacted.
A female victim involved in the accident was taken to a local hospital with what were believed to be moderate to major injuries. There was no word on if there were other victims injured.
The Bakersfield Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding what happened.
Fighting for Support for Bakersfield Car Accident Victims
The victims of major accidents in Bakersfield should get the best medical care available without having to stress about the cost of that care. This support should be automatic when innocent victims are hurt by another motorist’s mistake.
But victims and their family members may have to file an injury claim against an at-fault driver’s car insurance provider to get the assistance they need. Having proof of who was to blame can help force an unhelpful car accident insurer to provide compensation to victims.
Victims must demand compensation for these and other hardships:
- Hospital bills now and those expected in the future.
- Lifelong support for a permanent disability.
- Replacement of benefits and income victims lose while having to miss work.
- Additional support for physical pain and emotional trauma endured.
- Wrongful death benefits. Family members of victims who have tragically passed on due to their injuries should seek help with funeral costs and remaining medical bills. The income the deceased can no longer provide to loved ones in the future should also factor into a settlement check.
