Speeding Driver Accident on Gosford Rd in Bakersfield CA

Drivers in Bakersfield can monitor traffic lights and yield the right of way when asked to do so. Unfortunately, there’s no guarantee that other motorists approaching an intersection will take the same care in paying attention to traffic signals.

A mistake by one driver can endanger motorists in all directions at an intersection. A car suddenly in the path of other vehicles can cause devastating collisions and traumatic, life-threatening injuries.

Speeding Plays Role in Deadly Collision in Bakersfield

An intersection collision claimed one life and injured one victim Thursday night in southwest Bakersfield. According to KBFX-TV, the accident occurred at the intersection of Gosford Road and District Boulevard on June 22, 2023.

Bakersfield Police arrived on the scene sometime after 10:40 p.m. They determined that a man driving a car on Gosford Road failed to stop for redlight. The vehicle entered the intersection and struck a black car. The man’s car then continued on to strike a tree in the center median of Gosford.

The male driver was removed from the wreckage by witnesses and lifesaving measures were administered by emergency response personnel. Tragically, the victim, a 27-year-old Bakersfield man, died from the injuries suffered. The woman driving the black car was transported to the hospital with injuries.

Bakersfield Police Officers continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash. They do believe speeding contributed to the collision.

Support for Victims and Families after a Bakersfield Accident

For close relatives who have lost a loved one due to a careless driver’s mistake, filing a wrongful death lawsuit can be an important safeguard. Family members facing the costs of a memorial and burial, and emergency response fees may be in extreme financial trouble immediately and in the months ahead. A claim can ask for assistance with these expenses and other losses, like the wages the deceased can no longer provide through a weekly paycheck.

Surviving victims of traffic collisions must often deal with difficult recoveries, even when injuries appear to be minor. Often the shock of the accident can mask the pain of a more serious injury that appears in the days that follow.  Filling a claim for damages against an insurance company can ensure victims get everything they need to pay for medical costs and get back on their feet after being out of work and missing paychecks.

When an at-fault driver is also hurt or killed in a tragic accident, innocent victims shouldn’t hesitate to file injury claims. The claim is directed at the driver’s car insurance provider and not the responsible driver or the driver’s family. People pay car insurance premiums so that victims can receive the support they need to heal and rebuild their lives.
