Long, straight highways around Sanger can encourage drivers to go faster than they can handle. Drivers can quickly lose control of their vehicles and put other motorists at extreme risk of powerful impacts.
One vehicle already out of control, can send another car out of control and into other cars. Victims might also be sent off the road and into roadside obstacles. Drivers and passengers inside often suffer traumatic and life-threatening injuries.
Speeding Leads to Deadly Accident Near Sanger
A man was tragically killed after being forced off the road by a speeding driver in Fresno County early Wednesday morning. According to KSEE-TV, the accident occurred along Highway 180, north of Sanger on June 14, 2023.
California Highway Patrol Officers responded to the scene near Bethel Avenue sometime after 3 a.m. They determined that the driver of a Dodge Charger traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed had struck a Honda Odyssey Minivan from behind. The impact sent the minivan out of control and into a tree on the side of the highway. The Honda then caught fire.
The driver of the Honda, the only person in the minivan, was killed in the crash. The four people in the Dodge Charger were all taken to the hospital with what were considered moderate injuries.
Investigators blamed the crash on unsafe speeds and reckless driving. They do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in what happened. The California Highway Patrol did not release information on any charges that might be pending for the driver who caused the deadly crash.
Securing Support for Families After a Highway 180 Accident
After a deadly accident, family members of the victim are right to wonder who is to blame and how they can seek justice. A spouse or children of the deceased could file a wrongful death claim to get financial support now and in the future.
A wrongful death claim seeks money to help with funeral costs and ambulance fees. Support should also be awarded to supplement the family’s income now that the deceased can no longer contribute paychecks to support them in the future.
The surviving victims of careless drivers can also ask for help from the driver’s car insurance provider. This claim seeks assistance with current hospital bills and those that may come due in the future. Victims may secure help with their lost income while they can’t work. Victims should also receive fair financial support for the physical pain they endure and the emotional trauma they suffer.
