Liability in Pedestrian Accidents on Taft Hwy in Bakersfield

Those traveling on foot in more rural parts of Bakersfield can face extreme danger when trying to cross the street. They may find intersections with safe crosswalks few and far between. Lighting at night along busy stretches could also be too low to alert distracted drivers to the presence of a pedestrian.

Drivers are supposed to monitor all lanes of traffic for those on foot and slow down immediately when they spot them. This “duty of care” is meant to protect defenseless pedestrians when they must cross the road. Drivers who neglect this duty can be held responsible for recovery costs, even when a victim wasn’t in a crosswalk.

Support for Victims and Their Families After a Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident

Pedestrians walk unprotected through Bakersfield and in a collision, they can suffer serious and long-term injuries. A crash victim must fight to make sure at-fault drivers and their car insurance companies are held fully accountable.

Victims should not have to pay for their own medical care or stress over the income they lose while missing work. Insurance adjusters must be held liable for these expenses as well as the physical pain and emotional anguish victims often endure.

Victims or their families can file an injury claim and seek full support as they try to heal. A pedestrian accident lawyer can help victims and their families secure the most from their injury claims to ensure they have what they need to rebuild their lives.
