Stop Sign Intersection Dangers on Manning Avenue in Fresno County

Traveling along rural roads like Manning Avenue can be dangerous, especially at intersections, where it can be hard to trust that other drivers will stop for stop signs as they should. Safe motorists will have little warning when another driver hasn’t noticed that red sign or is going too fast to make a complete stop.

After a collision, drivers and passengers can suffer broken legs, broken arms, and traumatic brain injuries. In tragic cases, victims can be left with life-threatening injuries and have to wait for the medical care they desperately need.

Man Killed After Truck Runs Stop Sign in Fresno County

A man tragically lost his life after a stop sign violation caused a collision in western Fresno County Wednesday morning. KFSN-TV reports the accident occurred at the intersection of Manning Avenue and James Road on April 19, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol says the crash occurred at the two-way stop sign intersection just before 9:30 p.m. Investigators found that the driver of a northbound service truck on James Road ignored a stop sign and rammed a White Ford pickup truck. The Ford was sent into a nearby field.

The CHP says that a man in his mid-40s who was a passenger in the pickup died at the scene. The driver of the Ford was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center with what were thought to be moderate injuries.

The driver of the service truck was not hurt in the impact. Officers do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in what happened.

Support for Victims and Their Families After Fresno County Accident

After a tragic accident, family members of the victim may have to act to protect themselves from the financial damages a crash can cause.

Funeral costs and ambulance fees can all come due just as a family is having to deal with the loss of the financial support the deceased can no longer offer through a weekly paycheck. The family must also learn to cope without the love and emotional support the loved one had always provided.

A family can find some closure in a tragic collision by filing a wrongful death claim to protect the future of those left behind. The at-fault driver’s insurance company is called upon to provide money for costs the family has endured and any future emotional and financial hardships expected in the years to come.

For surviving victims, a claim for damages can be filed against drivers responsible for accidents. Hospital care and future rehabilitation costs are covered by the driver’s insurance policy. Medical equipment can also be paid for. The insurance company should also be called upon to provide compensation for the victim’s missed time at work and lost wages.

In accidents involving a business truck or van, it’s often possible to hold employers responsible for the careless actions of their driver. A skilled Fresno truck accident lawyer will investigate an accident and make sure every party that’s liable contributes to a collision settlement.
