Bakersfield Police responded to the scene near the Lowe’s Home Improvement shopping center sometime after 10:35 a.m. Investigators determined that two motorcyclists riding in tandem were making a left turn from Rosedale Avenue onto Jet Way when they were struck head-on by an eastbound Nissan Pathfinder pickup truck.
One of the men riding a motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. The other rider, also an adult male, suffered major injuries and was rushed to a local hospital.
The driver of the pickup stayed at the scene to answer questions about what happened. Bakersfield Police continue to go over the circumstances of the collision to determine why it happened.
