A Hanford woman was tragically killed on Good Friday, which was Friday, April 7, 2023.
Unfortunately, instead of stopping to render aid at the scene of the crash as required by California state law, the driver who hit the woman fled the scene. According to ABC 30, the alleged driver is 35 year old Thomas Barker, who is now in Kings County Jail.
We are deeply saddened to hear of this horrific crash.
A Word on Wrongful Death Claims:
After a loved one is killed in a crash like this, surviving family members can file a wrongful death claim on behalf of their loved one.
Unfortunately, insurance companies do not have to tell you about this type of claim, and they’re not likely to do so.
A wrongful death claim is a civil lawsuit used to obtain financial compensation on behalf of a loved one, that is separate from criminal charges.
Families should explore filing a wrongful death claim any time a loved one has been lost due to the negligence of someone else.
