Broken Bone Risks in Pedestrian Accidents on Cedar Avenue in Fresno

Pedestrians rarely get the kind of attention they need from Fresno drivers in order to cross streets safely. Motorists allow themselves to become distracted and can miss spotting someone on foot.

The dangers for pedestrians only grow when a driver decides to speed away from the scene of an accident after an impact. This heartless decision leaves a victim waiting on medical care and at risk of being struck again by other motorists. A hit-and-run driver might also remain unidentified, leaving the enormous costs of recovery for the victim and the victim’s family to pay.

Hit-And-Run Arrest After Fresno Pedestrian Suffers Broken Leg

A hit-and-run suspect was apprehended after a collision sent a pedestrian to the hospital in Fresno Thursday night. According to KFSN-TV, the accident occurred near the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Tulare Avenue, east of downtown, on April 27, 2023.

Fresno Police responded to the scene sometime after 9:30 p.m. They discovered that the victim had been struck by a vehicle and was then abandoned at the scene. The pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital with a broken leg.

Investigators say the driver involved fled the scene but was followed by witnesses. He was found near the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Balch Avenue. That was south of the accident scene. A man was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run.

Finding Financial Help for Victims After a Fresno Pedestrian Collision

Those who travel Fresno on foot are at risk anytime they must venture across busy streets. Many city crosswalks are drawn with faded lines and they may not give pedestrians long enough to cross several lanes of traffic.

Defenseless pedestrians can suffer broken arms, wrists, legs, and ankles in even a slow-speed collision. Patients may require surgery to get their bones realigned so they can heal. They might also need several weeks of physical therapy to rebuild strength in a limb after a cast comes off.

Pedestrian accident victims should receive full support for all medical costs as they heal. They’ll also need to be supported when they can’t go to work and earn paychecks. That compensation can help cover car payments, rent or mortgage payments, and other monthly bills the victim falls behind on.

Unfortunately, the insurance provider for an at-fault driver doesn’t always make earning fair support easy. Your pedestrian accident attorney can make sure they don’t get away with trying to blame you for an accident or trying to downplay your injuries.
