Pedestrian Accident Dangers on Century Boulevard in South Los Angeles

After the sun goes down in South Los Angeles, drivers should be paying even closer attention to the road and trying to spot anyone walking nearby. They owe all pedestrians a “duty of care” which means they should stay alert to spot pedestrians and should slow down to make an accident impossible.

Pedestrians are owed this caution no matter where or when they travel, even when they are outside of crosswalks. Those on foot get this legal protection because of their vulnerability when compared to someone buckled up in a car and protected by metal walls. When a driver strikes a pedestrian they can be held fully accountable for the consequences.

Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene by members of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Finding Assistance for Families After a Tragic Los Angeles Pedestrian Accident

Families will never completely recover from the grief and emotional pain of losing a loved one. They should be free to rebuild their lives without the worry over the bills that arise after a tragic accident.

Those costs can include the expense of a funeral and remaining ambulance fees. The financial support the deceased can no longer provide might also leave close family members with money issues.

Families have an even harder time finding monetary support after a hit-and-run driver decides to leave the scene of an accident and attempts to avoid liability for a mistake. However, family members can still earn support even if a hit-and-run suspect remains unidentified.

When a suspect remains at large and isn’t located, families may be able to call upon their own car insurance policy. The victim may have had uninsured motorist coverage that could help out the family financially at such a difficult time. If the victim did not carry car insurance, he or she may have been covered by a family member’s policy.

When there’s good news, and a hit-and-run suspect is apprehended, a wrongful death claim can be filed against the driver’s auto insurance company. Families could file a wrongful death claim at any time, even when a criminal trial has yet to start. The two cases are separate.
