The technology industry continues to drive the state’s economy. These Silicon Valley companies provide many high-paying jobs. The leading companies include:

No matter what industry or employer you work in, the state of California recognizes that you have certain rights simply by being a citizen and being employed. How Many Employees Do California’s Biggest Companies Have?

With 55 Fortune 500 companies located in California, it’s no surprise that several of these companies are also among the leaders in number of employees. In fact, the top five California companies in terms of revenue are in the technology and gas industries, two of the most profitable industries worldwide.

In terms of number of employees, these companies simply must have

  • Apple – Virtually everyone is aware of Apple. With its status as a technological innovator and cultural icon, it offers a line of extremely popular products. Further, its reputation and market share has also been extremely profitable. In 2021, the company brought in $274.5 billion in revenue. Somewhat surprisingly, the company itself is relatively small, employing 132,000 people according to company data.
  • Google – Another ever-present tech company, Google has products and services that seemingly everyone uses on a daily basis. This led to $182.5 billion in profits in 2021, and that number is only expected to grow. Google’s headquarters in Mountain View makes it one of California’s most recognizable employers, with the company employing 98,771 people in 2021.
  • Chevron – Energy is one of California’s–and the world’s–most important industries. Whether it be from natural gas, oil, or electricity, California has a wealth of options for both employers and employees looking to break into this highly competitive industry. Among the leaders of this industry is Chevron, which is headquartered in San Ramon. Chevron made $94.7 billion in 2021, largely thanks to its over 51,900 employees.
  • Wells Fargo – Banking is another leading industry in California. The financial sector is among the largest employers in the state, and Wells Fargo is California’s largest employer. 258,700 people work for the company, which is headquartered in San Francisco and earned $80.3 billion in 2021.
  • Intel – The last company on this list is also in the technology industry. Intel was at the forefront of computers and technology but has remained a strong player thanks to its 107,100 employees. Headquartered in Santa Clara, Intel made $77.6 billion in 2021.
