As of December 23, 2021, Tesla vehicles must be in Park to play games. Drivers and passengers can not play video games on Tesla vehicles if it is in Drive or in motion.
This is a valid question. In 2019, Tesla began offering video games which could be played on its infotainment system. Some games were able to be played while the vehicle was in motion. The feature was called “passenger play”.
Viral videos circulated YouTube showing drivers bypassing a screen by confirming they were a passenger.
The NHTSA launched an investigation on December 22, 2021. Then, the next day, Tesla announced an update which prevents games from being played on the infotainment system while the vehicle is in motion.
Steam comes to Tesla:
On December 13, 2022, Tesla announced a “holiday update” which included “Steam”. Valve’s Steam platform brings cool games to your dashboard such as Cyberpunk, Elden Ring and thousands of other games.

Of course, these games would be very distracting to drivers, even if the passenger were the player. The temptation to look over at the screen while driving down the road would be tremendous.
