Pedestrian Accidents on East White Lane in Bakersfield, CA

No matter how careful you are when walking in Bakersfield, there is always a chance that other drivers on our city’s busy streets aren’t exercising as much caution. When drivers fail in their legal obligation to give the right of way to pedestrians, accidents can happen.

And usually, when a pedestrian is involved in an accident with a vehicle, they are at a serious disadvantage in terms of protection. Much larger vehicles moving at speed pose a serious risk to every pedestrian, with injury or even death resulting from these collisions.

Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle on East White Lane in Bakersfield

A third pedestrian death in as many nights occurred Sunday, when a woman was tragically killed after being struck by a vehicle on East White Lane near 7th Avenue. The accident occurred around 7:00 pm on December 4, 2022 in Bakersfield, reported KGET.

The woman was found in the roadway with fatal injuries after the accident, with investigators and emergency personnel pronouncing her dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators, but police are still investigating the incident.

According to investigators, the woman was outside of the crosswalk in the westbound lane at the time of the collision. Police say that neither speed, alcohol, or drugs contributed to the collision in any way.

The victim has yet to be identified, with the Kern County Coroner’s Office still working on providing a positive identification from family members.

Sunday’s fatal accident comes on the heels of two other suspected hit-and-run pedestrian accidents over the weekend. On Friday night, a man was struck and killed on White Lane near South Real Road and a man was struck and killed early Sunday morning on Stockdale Highway near New Stine Road.
