Safety Tips For Driving At Night in Bakersfield

Accidents like this one demonstrate how much more difficult it can be to drive at night than it is during the day. Not only do you have to account for your own reduced visibility and driving capacity, but other drivers are also experiencing the same things as well.

Also, every vehicle and driver respond to these limitations differently. What this means is that there’s no consistency in terms of how you and other drivers approach driving at night. Moreover, when it’s more difficult to see, it’s also more difficult to react to hazards or stopped vehicles. Frequently, this lag in reaction time can lead to accidents.

Because of the unique dangers that driving at night poses, here are some tips to follow when driving at night in Bakersfield:

  • Do not look directly into the headlights of an oncoming vehicle.
  • Keep your eye toward the right edge of your lane
  • Watch oncoming vehicles out of the corner of your eye.
  • Do not try to retaliate against another driver by keeping your bright lights on. If you do, both of you may be blinded.

Oftentimes, driving at night can’t be avoided. There are even some people that must drive at night to get to work or make important deliveries. No matter what your responsibilities are, driving at night requires extra attention and care.
