Injury Liability in DUI Accidents Along Hwy 41 in Madera County CA

Slender highways with fast-moving traffic through Madera County can be dangerous enough for even safe drivers. It’s hard to know what other drivers are focused on and if they’re paying attention to the road. Motorists can leave their lanes unexpectedly and cause chain-reaction collisions.

The chances of a dangerous pile-up only increase when a driver is at the wheel while impaired by drugs or alcohol. Once drunk drivers are off course, there’s little chance they’ll have the awareness to correct and steer out of harm’s way.

Four-Vehicle DUI Accident in Madera County Injures Several People

A four-car crash sent several people to the hospital early Sunday Morning in Madera County. KFSN-TV reports the accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Highway 41 near Jewel Vista Drive on November 27, 2022. That’s south of the Yosemite Lakes Community and Chukchanski Casino.

The California Highway Patrol determined that a Hyundai Elantra went off the road and crashed into some rocks. A Toyota Tundra pickup was also damaged when it clipped the back of the Hyundai and two other vehicles.

A passenger in the Hyundai was rushed to the hospital with major injuries.  Several other people involved were taken to the hospital with less serious injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai was taken into custody under suspicion of driving under the influence. The Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Support for Victims After a Frightening Madera County Highway Crash

Victims in car accidents must be checked out by their doctors as soon after an incident as possible, no matter how minor the injuries seem. Paramedics at the scene or emergency room doctors may not be able to detect hairline fractures, traumatic brain injuries, and other internal injuries. These wounds may not make themselves known through pain immediately, but they can show up a day or two later and endanger a vehicle collision victim.

Injured victims shouldn’t miss their opportunity to get help with recovery bills by filing a claim for damages. This civil claim is directed at an at-fault driver’s insurance provider. It seeks compensation for the medical bills ahead and the lost time at work that costs victims valuable income.

In an accident caused by a DUI driver, patients don’t have to wait to ask for financial support. A DUI suspect will be facing a criminal trial, but the civil claim is settled separately with insurance representatives. The civil claim can be worked out no matter where the criminal proceedings stand.
