Two people were tragically killed in a two-car collision in the Pruendale Community in Monterey County Monday morning. KION-TV reports the accident occurred around 5:10 a.m. along Maher Road near the Echo Valley Road intersection on October 10, 2022.
The California Highway Patrol determined that a 20-year-old woman from Watsonville was driving a Ford Explorer traveling westbound when the vehicle crossed the painted median for an unknown reason. The SUV then drove directly into a Nissan Pathfinder that was eastbound.
A 68-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman, both from Watsonville, were traveling in the Nissan SUV. They were both declared dead at the scene.
The woman driving the Ford SUV was transported to a local hospital with injuries. Highway Patrol investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
