Drivers on rural roads across Fresno County know that motorists often travel too fast and too often take their eyes from the road. Drivers that slow down or stop for traffic or to make a turn must always worry about if the driver behind them is paying attention enough to slow down as well.
A careless mistake by one motorist can cause a chain-reaction accident that puts drivers and passengers at risk of several impacts. Victims can face serious injury and in the worst cases, be at risk of losing their lives.
Woman Killed After Car is Struck Twice in Fresno County Crash
A three-vehicle collision southwest of Fresno tragically claimed the life of a woman Thursday afternoon. KFSN-TV reported the accident occurred just after 3 p.m. on Church Avenue near the intersection of West Avenue in Fresno County on August 18, 2022.
The California Highway Patrol believes that a driver in a westbound sedan was making a left turn, but had stopped to wait on oncoming traffic to pass. An SUV coming up from behind the sedan didn’t stop in time to avoid ramming it and pushing the car into the opposite lane. An eastbound van then struck the sedan’s passenger side.
A female passenger in the sedan was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and was pronounced dead there. There was no word on any other injuries suffered in the accident.
The California Highway Patrol continues to work to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision. They do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in what happened.
Finding Support for Families After a Fresno County Accident
Families who lose a loved one to a tragic accident are able to protect themselves financially by filing a wrongful death claim. This civil claim is leveled against an at-fault driver’s insurance company.
Close relatives will face the costs of a funeral and leftover ambulance fees. These expenses should be completely covered by an insurance company involved and not a grieving family.
Families could also be facing a financial crisis after the income a loved one has always contributed is suddenly taken away. That support and the income and care the deceased would have offered in the years to come should also earn substantial support.
