One driver was injured and another tragically killed after a collision in Oildale Tuesday morning. KGET-TV reports the accident occurred at the intersection of China Grade Loop and McCray Street near North High School on July 12, 2022.
The California Highway Patrol was sent to the scene at around 9:38 a.m. They determined that the 43-year-old westbound driver of a Chevy Silverado pickup collided with a woman driving a Volvo traveling northbound.
The driver of the pickup continued on to hit a light pole and was then ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman in the Volvo was rushed to the hospital with what were described as serious injuries.
CHP investigators continue to work to determine the cause of the accident. They do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
