Highway 1 Head-On Collision Claims Two Lives in San Luis Obispo County
A car and a truck collided and killed two people early Wednesday morning in southern San Luis Obispo County. KEYT-TV reports the accident occurred west of Nipomo on Highway 1 at the intersection of Winterhaven Way on July 6, 2022.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene sometime after 4:45 a.m. They determined that the southbound driver of a black Dodge pickup was trying to turn left onto Winterhaven Way. The truck ended up pulling directly into the path of a northbound blue Honda Civic. The vehicles collided head-on.
The 35-year-old driver of the Honda and a passenger were tragically killed. The driver of the pickup received minor injuries.
California Highway Patrol investigators continue to work to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
