The California Highway Patrol says the collision left two people trapped in their vehicle under the semi-trailer. Firefighters worked to free the victims. The victims did not survive.
Officers say a pedestrian was also struck in the accident and suffered injuries. It’s not clear how the pedestrian wound up on the freeway. CHP investigators are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
