Pedestrian Hit-And-Run Accidents On Hwy 33 in Fresno County

Pedestrians in rural Fresno County often have few options for getting around safely. They travel without sidewalks and crosswalks in many places and are completely unprotected when confronting traffic. That’s why all drivers must show extra caution on all streets and highways as they travel.

A glance away from the road could cause a motorist to miss spotting someone on foot to cause a devastating accident. These collisions become even more heartbreaking when at-fault drivers decide not to help their victims and instead flee the scene.

Man on Foot Severely Injured by Hit-And-Run Driver in Fresno County

A pedestrian was badly hurt after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in southwest Fresno County on Friday morning. ABC30-TV reports the collision occurred along Highway 33 between Coalinga and Avenal.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene sometime after 9 a.m. north of Sutter Avenue. Investigators say someone called in the tragic accident after finding a man in the roadway with severe injuries.

The victim was flown to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment. There have been no updates released on his condition.

The driver involved did not remain on the scene and remains unidentified. Investigators found parts of a gray vehicle along the highway and say the vehicle is missing a right-side mirror.

Support for Victims After a Fresno Hit-And-Run Pedestrian Crash

After a pedestrian accident, victims and their family members can face extreme financial turmoil as hospital bills accumulate. The victim could also lose weekly paychecks while having to miss work hours while healing.

To help with these costs and damages, an at-fault driver’s car accident insurance provider should be called upon to pay for every expense victims endure. The at-fault driver may face a criminal trial, but that won’t delay civil proceedings to decide how much support victims should receive.

If the hit-and-run driver to blame isn’t identified, it is still possible to earn compensation for the victim. A claim can be filed on the victim’s own car accident insurance or on a family member’s policy that covers the victim. This claim would utilize the policy’s uninsured motorist coverage.
