Pedestrian Accidents Involving Hit-And-Run Drivers on Fruit Avenue in Fresno

Drivers in Fresno are required by California law to monitor for those on foot who may be in the street. They must slow down any time a pedestrian is spotted in a roadway. This “duty of care” is especially important at night when motorists should be paying even more attention to the lanes.

When this duty is ignored devastating pedestrian collisions are much more likely. Drivers can make the consequences for themselves and the victim that much worse when they choose to flee the scene of an accident. They may leave an injured victim waiting extra time for medical assistance and force a family to worry over hospital bills stemming from the accident.

Fresno Police say witnesses confirmed the victim was in a crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle. The victim was rushed to the hospital with injuries. He is expected to recover.

Finding Assistance for Victims After a Fresno Pedestrian Accident

After a pedestrian accident, victims may face several unfair expenses they weren’t anticipating. Enormous medical bills can appear in the mailbox. Paychecks could stop arriving weekly when a patient can’t make it in to work. There is also the toll of pain and emotional trauma to consider.

To help with these costs, an at-fault driver’s car accident insurance provider should be called upon to pay for every expense victims and their families will see. The at-fault driver may face a criminal trial, but that won’t delay civil proceedings to decide how much support a victim should receive.

If a hit-and-run driver is to blame and isn’t identified, it is still possible to earn compensation for the victim. A claim can be filed on the victim’s own car accident insurance or on a family member’s policy that covered the victim. This claim would utilize the policy’s uninsured motorist coverage to provide support so victims can rebuild their lives.
