Nighttime can be a dangerous time to drive on an unsafe route like Highway 99 through Fresno. It’s a well-known hot spot for traffic accidents and at night careless drivers can make more mistakes and become even more reckless.
Cars involved in a previous accident may be sitting in the lane when other vehicles begin to approach. If these drivers don’t see the obstacles ahead in time, additional devastating impacts can occur. These tragic accidents might cause severe injuries and even claim lives that might have been saved with a little more caution shown.
Woman Killed And Several Victims Hurt After Multi-Car Crash in Fresno
An early Tuesday morning chain-reaction accident in southeast Fresno claimed one life and sent several other people to the hospital. KSEE-TV reports the collisions occurred around 3 a.m. along the northbound lanes of Highway 99 near South Cedar Avenue on April 26, 2022.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) found that the frightening incident began when a woman crashed her vehicle into a wall on the right shoulder and came to rest in the center median. The occupant of an SUV stopped to help the woman, but that SUV was struck from behind and was left overturned.
The secondary collision caused a chain reaction that left six vehicles in total involved in the crash. The woman in the first vehicle was tragically declared dead at the scene. The CHP says other drivers and passengers were taken to the hospital with injuries ranging from mild to moderate.
Securing Aid for Victims in a Highway 99 Traffic Accident
Highway 99 is the scene of many multi-vehicle accidents. Victims and their families are right to wonder who is to blame and who should be helping with injury expenses. In California, several people can be found at fault in an accident and would have to help injured victims in proportion to their liability.
Victims or their families could file claims against multiple drivers and hope to receive compensation for medical bills and their lost wages while missing work. Victims should also receive fair financial support for the physical pain they endure and the emotional trauma suffered.
The families of victims who lose their lives in heartbreaking accidents can also seek support to protect close relatives from financial harm. A wrongful death claim seeks money to help with funeral costs. Support should also be awarded to supplement the family’s income now that the deceased can no longer contribute paychecks to support them.
