A pedestrian crossing a road was struck and killed southeast of Bakersfield in Kern County Tuesday night. KGET-TV reports the tragic accident occurred around 11:44 p.m. on Edison Road, just north of Panama Lane on March 22, 2022.
The California Highway Patrol says a man was crossing Edison Road when he was struck by a northbound car traveling around 55mph. The pedestrian victim died at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla reportedly fled the scene but later returned. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident continues.
