Accidents Involving Head-On Collisions On South Lake Road In Taft CA

Rural roads in and around Kern County leave little protection for motorists from oncoming traffic. A slight mistake by someone in an opposite lane could leave vehicles on a collision course that is difficult to avoid.

These powerful impacts often cause severe injuries for drivers and passengers and in the worst cases, lives are threatened.

Woman Killed and Two Victims Seriously Injured in Taft Collision

A woman lost her life and two other people suffered severe injuries in a head-on car collision in eastern Taft Monday afternoon. KERO-TV reports the accident happened around 12:30 p.m. on South Lake Road near Gardner Field Road on March 28, 2022.

The California Highway Patrol says that the 31-year-old woman was driving a 2012 Acura north on South Lake Road when she made an unsafe turn into the southbound lane. The Acura then struck a 2002 Chevrolet head-on.

The woman in the Acura was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver and a passenger in the Chevrolet were rushed to Kern Medical in Bakersfield with major injuries. California Highway Patrol Officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Finding Support for Taft Accident Victims and Their Families

Those suffering injuries in frightening accidents must often deal with difficult and expensive recoveries. Surviving victims or their family members are encouraged to file a claim for damages against an at-fault driver’s insurance provider. This civil claim seeks to secure compensation for all medical costs a recovery leaves behind. It also must provide for the victim’s welfare as they lose valuable paychecks while missing work.

For families who have lost a loved one, a wrongful death claim filed against the responsible driver’s insurance provider may become necessary. Close relatives may be left with the costs of a funeral and emergency response fees over an accident that wasn’t their loved one’s fault. An at-fault driver’s car insurance company should be completely liable for these expenses and more. The family will often need financial support in the future, as the income the deceased had always provided is no longer available.

If you or a loved one were the victim of a careless driver, don’t allow an insurance agent or adjuster to determine how much support you should receive. They work for their insurance company and want to save money for their shareholders. Your recovery and your family’s recovery are much more important than their profits.
