Pedestrians face plenty of dangers during the day from careless and distracted drivers. At night that risk only increases as drivers who should be looking even harder for defenseless pedestrians may spend even less time monitoring the roads.

Pedestrians can suffer severe injuries including brain and head injuries, fractured bones, and back and spine damage. In extreme cases, pedestrians even risk the loss of life in a completely preventable collision.

The California Highway Patrol says a driver traveling eastbound struck the victim. The victim was identified as a male believed to be in his twenties. He was declared dead on the scene.

Support for Close Relatives After a Madera County Pedestrian Accident

A spouse, the children, and the parents of pedestrian accident victims often get targeted by enormous bills in the wake of a tragedy. They may be confronted by emergency response fees and the costs of a funeral and burial. These expenses come at a time when close relatives may already be in a financial crisis after losing the income the lost loved one had always provided.

For family’s in such a tragic situation, a wrongful death claim is one option to use to secure support now and in the future. This civil claim targets the insurance company of an at-fault driver and asks for help with bills. The claim also aims to provide financial support to prevent the family from falling on hard times in the years to come as they must go on without the guidance the deceased provided.

Pedestrians are often forced to walk alongside traffic as they travel completely unprotected. Due to that vulnerability, it’s the law that pedestrians be shown care from drivers no matter where they encounter them. Sadly, drivers can ignore this “duty of care” and put someone on foot at risk.
