A man on foot was struck and killed by a vehicle in northeast Salinas Friday morning. KSBW-TV reports the pedestrian accident occurred around 6:45 a.m. near the intersection of Laurel Drive and Natividad Road.
Law enforcement officials said a 78-year-old man was crossing the street when he was struck by a driver in a Toyota Prius. The victim died as the result of his injuries.
The driver involved remained on the scene for the investigation. Officers are still determining what led to the accident.
