Accidents in California Involving the Lucid Air Electric Vehicle

A new, luxury electric sports car finally revs its engines on California roads this fall. At the end of October 2021, a select few Lucid Air car owners received delivery on their new vehicles.

These high-powered, long-range electric sedans are set to compete with Tesla’s established electric fleet. They may not blow by Tesla in sales, but on the road, the Lucid Air will likely leave Tesla in the dust.

As Lucid drivers adjust to California freeways and roads in their new rides, they’ll, unfortunately, be at mercy of the same careless drivers as every other motorist. It’s important to know what to do if you are in an accident while driving your Lucid Air. Of course, a Lucid owner could also cause some serious injuries to other drivers as well.

Lucid Launch in California

The Lucid Air’s high-end “Dream Edition” Range model is the first vehicle to arrive from the manufacturer. The Dream offers 933hp and boasts a range of over 500 miles on a charge. That’s further than any other electric vehicle on the market.

As things get rolling, Lucid plans on opening four dealerships and service centers in California, two in Florida, one in New York, and one in the Washington, D.C., area. You may be lucky to catch glimpse of a Lucid vehicle at first, but more are on the way. Less expensive Lucid models will continue to be delivered over 2022.

Lucid Safety Innovations

As far as safety features, the Lucid comes with somewhere around 15 cameras and several sensors. They will all eventually be used to operate a self-driving mode “Dream Drive” when it is unveiled through a software upgrade.

The sensors include a Lidar sensor. It’s like radar but it uses lasers to monitor vehicles traveling ahead of the Lucid Air. All of this hi-tech gear will support surround-view monitoring, blind-spot protection, traffic sign recognition, and automatic emergency braking when Lidar detects a hazard.

It’s unclear if the onboard cameras will record continuously to provide constant video surveillance that can help prove fault in a collision. Tesla already provides this helpful innovation for its drivers.

What to Do if You Are Involved in a Lucid Air Accident

Now that Lucid has wheels on the pavement, drivers and passengers will be at risk for traffic collisions any time they travel.

With such a big investment in your Lucid Air you’ll want to make sure you aren’t unfairly blamed in an accident. You could be left to pay for your medical bills and expensive repairs yourself if the at-fault driver’s insurance adjusters have their way.

In order to leave insurance companies no room to shift blame to you after a crash, try to secure a few details at the crash scene if you are physically able:

  • Call 911. Give a full report to dispatchers and police. Allow paramedics to document your injuries. Go to the hospital if necessary.
  • Use your phone to secure photos and video. Document the scene, the damage to cars, and any relevant traffic signs and lane markings.
  • Secure any video recorded by your Lucid Air. If possible, make sure the footage from every available angle of your accident is saved and can’t be erased.
  • Talk to any witnesses and find out what they saw.
  • Exchange information with the drivers involved. Avoid saying anything about who was at fault or how badly you are injured. You don’t want to accept blame when you weren’t actually responsible.
  • Schedule an appointment with your doctor. Get injuries and any pain that arises after the accident documented.
  • Check with Lucid manufacturers before getting your Lucid Air repaired. It’s been reported that repairs done by unqualified shops could create safety hazards when it’s driven again.

Contact a California Attorney Serving Lucid Air Accident Victims

If you or a loved one are seriously hurt in an accident involving a Lucid vehicle, contact a California Car Accident Lawyer before talking to any insurance representative.

Insurance adjusters will be calling you seeking a recorded statement about what happened. Decline this request. These statements can be twisted by insurance companies later to hurt your case. Let your personal injury lawyer handle all contact with their agents.

Adjusters also like to blame the owners of high-performance vehicles in accidents, despite a collision report saying something very different. Your lawyer will make sure you don’t fall for these common tactics.

California Attorney Martin Gasparian offers a free case evaluation to make sure victims and their families know every benefit available to them. Mr. Gasparian works closely with victims to make sure they have everything necessary to make a full medical recovery and the money to repair or replace their vehicles.
