Head-On Accidents Along Highway 43 In Bakersfield CA

Highways in and around Bakersfield tend to be long, straight, and narrow. They carry vehicles that are sometimes traveling too fast, especially for the lack of protection a two-lane road offers against oncoming traffic.

A driver who makes a careless or reckless mistake has little room to correct course and avoid other vehicles. The injuries emerging from a collision can be devastating, and in the most tragic cases, the loss of life is a possibility.

One life was claimed and two other victims suffered injuries in an early Tuesday morning crash in Eastern Bakersfield. KGET-TV reports the accident occurred just after 5 a.m. on Highway 43 just north of I-5 on August 10, 2021.

The California Highway Patrol says the head-on collision took place when the driver of a 2010 Chevy heading north drifted into the opposite lanes of traffic. The driver of a 2004 Chevy going southbound tried to avoid the oncoming vehicle but could not.

A passenger in the 2004 Chevy, a 48-year-old Shafter woman, tragically lost her life in the accident. The driver of the same vehicle was taken to Kern Medical with injuries.

The driver of the 2010 Chevy suffered minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital. California Highway Patrol officers are still investigating the accident.

Finding Help for Victims And Their Families After a Bakersfield Accident

Families will be devastated by the sudden loss of a family member to a terrible accident. They may wonder how to seek justice and how to protect close relatives from bearing the financial burdens that can arise after a tragedy. Family’s should be allowed to mourn the loss of a loved one without the worries of medical bills and the incredible costs of a funeral and burial service.

Under such difficult circumstances, a spouse, children of the victim, or in some cases the parents of the victim can bring a wrongful death claim forward on the behalf of the entire family. This civil lawsuit can ask for help with recent costs and expenses while also helping to replace the financial support the victim can no longer provide in the future.
