Merced and Merced County definitely see their share of road construction projects. Orange cones and detour signs can be a frustrating sight, but areas of construction can also provide real dangers for motorists. Careless drivers can be traveling too fast or not be watching the road when they come upon stopped traffic.
The risk of a serious collision only increases when drivers get behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol. The change in traffic patterns and slowed vehicles around a construction zone can easily confuse or escape the attention of someone with impaired judgment. This error can leave all other drivers and passengers stuck in construction traffic in harm’s way.
Vehicle Collision in Merced Leaves Pickup Truck Driver Badly Hurt

Merced Police and the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene. Investigators say the driver of a pickup truck came upon stopped construction traffic and hit at least one car. The truck then left the roadway and caught fire.
CHP officers were able to pull the truck’s driver, a 43-year-old man, from the vehicle. He was flown to a Modesto Hospital in critical condition.

Assistance for Car Accident Victims in Merced
Those victims hurt in car accidents through no fault of their own shouldn’t end up paying the expensive bills for their injury recovery. They can suffer serious injuries and sometimes not even know how badly they are hurt for a day or more after experiencing a collision. The shock involved with being a victim of a crash can sometimes mask the pain of an injury until they wake up the next morning.
Once an injury is identified, it’s important to let a car insurance company for an at-fault driver know immediately that they will be expected to provide support to victims. A car accident victim can file a claim for damages to alert an insurance company of what they’ll be responsible for.
Compensation can be earned for any medical and rehabilitation bills received during recovery. The lost wages at work while victims are unable to do their jobs can also be reimbursed through a claim for damages.
