Pedestrian Accidents on Highway 178 in Bakersfield CA

Pedestrians in downtown Bakersfield should have safer routes and more of them as they travel the city. Someone on foot can be a few blocks away from their destination and yet have to go a mile or more to find a safe path to get there.

The addition of footbridges and more crosswalks would prevent injuries and save lives in Bakersfield. Driver education would also help protect those on foot. Most motorists don’t realize that they are required to show extra care towards defenseless pedestrians no matter where they are encountered.

Drivers should always proceed as if a pedestrian is nearby so that they have enough time and space to stop to avoid a tragic impact. When they don’t show this extra care, motorists can be held liable in any accident that turns someone on foot into a victim.

Finding Help for Families After a Tragic Pedestrian Accident in Bakersfield

Families who have lost a loved one in a terrible accident should be granted as much time as they need to grieve their loss. Unfortunately, the enormous costs that can follow an accident can quickly target close relatives at such a difficult time. Family’s may be forced to the brink of bankruptcy simply by the bills that arrive in their mailbox in the first month after a tragedy.

With this hardship in mind, families are encouraged to file a wrongful death lawsuit against an at-fault driver’s auto insurance provider. This civil lawsuit would ask an insurance company to provide money for the emergency services fees that come due, and for the costs of a funeral service and burial.

The lawsuit could also protect the family in the future by providing enough support to cover the years ahead when family members will be without the future guidance and financial support the victim would have continued to provide.
