A man on a motorcycle tragically lost his life after a collision along Highway 101 on Monday night north of San Luis Obispo. The San Luis Obispo Tribune reported the accident took place around 9:40 p.m. at the intersection of Tassajara Creek Road in San Luis Obispo County on July 12, 2021.
The California Highway Patrol found that a 67-year-old man from Atascadero on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound on Highway 101 at the time of the collision. The impact occurred when a 45-year-old man from Sacramento, driving a Jeep, attempted to turn left onto Tassajara Creek Road right in front of the motorcyclist.
The rider ran into the passenger side of the Jeep and was thrown from his motorcycle. The victim was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria where he later died from his injuries. The Jeep’s driver was not injured in the collision.
The accident marked the second tragic motorcycle accident in San Luis Obispo County on Monday. Earlier in the day, another motorcyclist was killed after a collision with an SUV in Grover Beach. The Grover Beach Police Department says that the crash happened at the intersection of Fourth Street and Newport Avenue.
