San Luis Obispo County offers highway runs going through curvy, mountain passes, and scenic stretches along the beach. Motorcyclists love this variety of terrain, but they must always enjoy the view while keeping an eye on the careless drivers that travel along with them.
Motorists can be paying attention to anything other than the road and not take a long enough look behind them and in front of them when they make a move. These lapses in attention can prove dangerous for anyone on a motorcycle.
A failure to spot a defenseless motorcyclist in any lane can force a rider into a devastating accident. The consequences can involve serious injuries that are often severe enough to be life-threatening.
Motorcyclists Killed in San Luis Obispo County Accidents
A man on a motorcycle tragically lost his life after a collision along Highway 101 on Monday night north of San Luis Obispo. The San Luis Obispo Tribune reported the accident took place around 9:40 p.m. at the intersection of Tassajara Creek Road in San Luis Obispo County on July 12, 2021.
The California Highway Patrol found that a 67-year-old man from Atascadero on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound on Highway 101 at the time of the collision. The impact occurred when a 45-year-old man from Sacramento, driving a Jeep, attempted to turn left onto Tassajara Creek Road right in front of the motorcyclist.
The rider ran into the passenger side of the Jeep and was thrown from his motorcycle. The victim was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria where he later died from his injuries. The Jeep’s driver was not injured in the collision.
The accident marked the second tragic motorcycle accident in San Luis Obispo County on Monday. Earlier in the day, another motorcyclist was killed after a collision with an SUV in Grover Beach. The Grover Beach Police Department says that the crash happened at the intersection of Fourth Street and Newport Avenue.
Finding Support for Families After a San Luis Obispo Motorcycle Accident
Families should be allowed time to mourn the loss of a loved one after a tragic accident. The grief experienced will be overwhelming after a beloved family member dies doing something he or she enjoyed so much.
In the wake of an accident, it’s the close relatives who can find themselves facing the enormous financial consequences of a terrible motorcycle collision. Family members will receive the invoices for a funeral service and burial. They can also get bills for the emergency response and hospital care involved after an accident.
In these heartbreaking situations, it’s only fair that a family would be able to seek help from the at-fault driver’s insurance company. This can be accomplished through a wrongful death claim filed with the insurance provider. This civil lawsuit would hope to secure a family’s current monetary woes during such a vulnerable time.
Filing a wrongful death claim can also ask for assistance to stabilize a family in the future when they must move on with their lives without the guidance and financial support the deceased had always provided.
