Pedestrian Accidents Involving Hit-And Run Drivers in Caruthers CA

Motorists in Fresno County must always take the extra time to look out for anyone on foot who may be using local roads, crosswalks, and sidewalks. That extra vigilance is needed even more at night when visibility is reduced and the risks for defenseless pedestrians increase.

The National Safety Council puts out warnings every year to educate drivers on their responsibility to unprotected pedestrians no matter where they travel. They found that in 2019 80% of pedestrian accidents occurred in dark lighting conditions. For the year over six thousand pedestrians lost their lives in traffic accidents across the nation.

These preventable accidents cost precious human lives and leave thousands injured. If drivers can pay a bit more attention to the road and spend less time driving distracted many lives can be saved and many injuries prevented.

Help for Families After a Pedestrian Accident in Fresno County

A serious pedestrian accident can leave victims to recover and family members to worry over them and wonder how justice can be served if the driver to blame is never found.

If a suspect isn’t located during an investigation, victims and families may still be able to seek support from their own car insurance policy. If the victim is covered by his or her own policy or is covered on a family member’s policy, support can be requested. The claim is filed using the policy’s uninsured motorist provision. This claim for damages would ask for help in paying for hospital bills and emergency services fees. Assistance with the lost wages a victim will suffer while missing time at work can also be requested.

If the family receives news that a suspect has been identified and arrested, an injury claim can immediately move forward against the at-fault driver’s insurance provider. The suspect will be facing criminal charges, but the victim’s civil claim can proceed separately no matter where the criminal case stands.
