Pedestrian Accidents Involving Hit-And-Run Drivers In Madera

Pedestrians deserve protected and safe access to wherever they need to be in Madera County. Someone on foot can travel at extreme risk to themselves when crosswalks and pedestrian bridges aren’t provided or are few and far between.

A driver’s failure to properly monitor the road ahead for pedestrians can lead to devastating accidents. The tragedy of these accidents only escalates when at-fault drivers decide to leave speed away from the scene of an accident to escape taking the blame. Victims and families can be left to deal with the anguish of such an act and be left wondering how justice can be served in such a case.

Help for Madera Hit-And-Run Accident Victims

Hit-and-run drivers can take a difficult situation and make it that much worse by their refusal to accept the consequences of their actions. Victims should be allowed to focus on their recovery after a terrible accident, but medical bills can come due in the weeks that follow, along with normal monthly bills going unpaid.

Victims and their families can face enormous expenses without the benefit of being able to call upon the at-fault driver’s insurance provider for help. If a hit-and-run driver is not found, a victim may still be able to get support from their own car insurance policy or a family member’s policy they may be covered under. This would utilize the uninsured motorist portion of the coverage.

If there is good news and a hit-and-run driver is identified and arrested, a claim for damages can immediately move forward against the driver’s car insurance company. The driver will likely be facing criminal charges for leaving the scene of an accident, but a civil lawsuit on behalf of the victim can proceed separately from the criminal trial.
