It’s understandable if pedestrians in Kings County aren’t always at ease traveling by foot, especially at night. Careless drivers can ignore or fail to spot pedestrians on the brightest of days and that risk only multiples after the sun goes down.
A driver should be on high alert for any pedestrian when light levels get low. Unfortunately, motorists can reach for their phones or be distracted by something else, just long enough to miss seeing a defenseless pedestrian straight ahead.
The mistake can leave no time to brake or steer clear and the results can be devastating for anyone on foot caught in these situations.

Help for Families After Pedestrian Accidents in Kings County
Families victimized by a terrible pedestrian accident can find out they’ve lost a loved one and be given little time to cope with the tragic news. Unfortunately, as they grieve, close relatives may have to act to protect the family from the financial and emotional hardships a heartbreaking accident can leave behind.
The at-fault driver and his or her insurance company should always be first to face the costs of funeral expenses and hospital bills after an accident caused by their mistake. This isn’t always the case though. To make sure family members get fair compensation for their loss, a wrongful death claim can be filed. This would target the driver’s insurance policy and cover bills seen by the family.
This claim can also provide financial assistance for close family members in the years to come when they must move on without the monetary and emotional support the victim would have provided. A wrongful death claim can be filed by a close relative like a spouse or domestic partner, or a child of the victim on behalf of the rest of the family. An attorney can also file this civil lawsuit on behalf of the family and guide them through the common strategies that insurance companies use to rob victims of compensation.
