A speeding driver takes dangerous chances with the lives of everyone else on the highways. Fresno traffic investigators see the hazards speeding drivers present on our roads each year.
According to California’s Transportation Injury Mapping System (TIMS), in 2019 there were 382 accidents involving drivers traveling at excessive speeds in Fresno. What’s more, 88% of those crashes occurred on state highways. Those accidents led to a tragic five deaths and left an astounding 598 people injured across Fresno in 2019.
Speeding drivers can show a dangerous level of carelessness, and they can only cause more emotional pain when they decide to flee the scene of an accident to avoid the consequences of their actions.

Officers say a speeding driver in a Chevy side-swiped a car, sending it into another vehicle. One of those vehicles turned over injuring two people inside.
The Chevy was also overturned in the collision and investigators say three or four people in the vehicle ran from the scene. The at-fault driver has not been identified.
Support for Hit-And-Run Accident Victims In Fresno
Victims seriously hurt in accidents can watch as the driver to blame makes two terrible decisions. The first is the careless move that causes a crash. The second can be the thoughtless choice to take off from the scene of the accident and leave the victim to face the consequences alone.
Those injured can wonder how they’ll be able to pay a mountain of hospital bills and even things like the rent, or a mortgage, or the electric bill while they are missing work due to their recovery. An at-fault driver should be on the hook for these costs and more, but if they aren’t identified that may not be possible.
If a driver remains unidentified, victims in accidents may have to file an uninsured/underinsured claim against their personal car insurance policy. This claim can help pay for medical costs arising from the accident and other financial and emotional hardships. An attorney can be helpful in these cases, because your insurance firm may still try to cheat you out of compensation just to save on their bottom line. An attorney can make sure they take your recovery seriously.
There’s always the hope that the responsible driver is found and charged. In this case, an attorney can help you file a claim for damages against the driver and his or her insurance company. The driver will likely be dealing with criminal charges at the same time as your civil lawsuit, but this won’t affect your bid to get compensation.
