A traumatic brain injury is a head injury that is severe enough to cause damage to the brain. It happens when a blow to the head of some kind causes the brain to be pushed against the cranium wall severely enough to cause bruising, swelling, and or bleeding.

- Victim is dazed and confused but no loss of consciousness

Severe Traumatic Brain Injury

- Reasoning, language skills, thought patterns are decreased
- Severe TBI comes with Increased risk of Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s disease
Treatment
Treatment for a TBI will depend on the severity level of the injury. If it is mild to moderate, the pain will be treated, and then there may be some cognitive rehabilitation therapy (CRT). In CRT the patient is taught to do fundamental functions in different ways, starting with basic skills and then progressing. The length and depth of CRT will depend on the severity of the injury. The treatment goal is to help the patient function in life with as much independence as possible acknowledging that there may be no restoration to the previous condition.Compensation for TBI
If you have suffered a TBI because of someone else’s negligence, the law allows you to get compensation from the at-fault person for your injuries and related financial losses. In most cases, this simply means money, and the amount will be based on the severity of the injury, the impact the injury has on the victim, and the cap on the insurance policy. At Maison Law, we know what types of claims for monetary damages are allowed by law and know how to get the victim the maximum compensation.Contact a Personal Injury Lawyer.
