The Closest Trauma Centers to Ceres
Ceres generally has only urgent care facilities and family doctors, but most of these resources close between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. They also aren’t equipped to handle life-threatening injuries. When Are Patients Sent to a Trauma Center?
Trauma Centers are in operation to serve the most badly hurt victims in accidents. These victim usually have a traumatic injury.
A traumatic injury is going to be the result of powerful impact forces victims in need of immediate medical attention. The injury can be a penetrating one or blunt strike to the body. These are severe, often life-threatening injuries. They can be caused by car accidents and the force of impact. The injuries may be the result of gunshots, stabbings, falls from a great height, workplace accidents and other serious incidents. Burn patients are also sometimes taken to trauma centers.
Trauma Center Certification in California
Trauma Centers are an extension of Hospital Emergency Departments that receive Trauma designation for the advanced skills of their doctors and nurses. Trauma Centers should also have access to advanced equipment and tools to better treat patients with severe injuries.
Trauma Centers are certified by Local Emergency Medical Services Agencies (LEMSA) or by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). In California, they are categorized into levels I, II, III, and IV, with Level I being the highest designation. There are also designations for pediatric trauma centers designed to deliver life-saving care to child victims.
A Level I and II Trauma Center have similar resources, but a Level I center is often connected to a University medical program. This means that research is also a part of the mission.
