How Do I Get an Accident Report from Ceres Police?

Ceres does not have an online option for retrieving an accident report. You must go to the police department in person to make a request. It’s an important step after you’ve been hurt by another driver on a busy route like Mitchell Road.

This report may be very important if your car is damaged or if you require medical attention after a crash. A collision report from a Ceres Police officer can help you prove who was to blame and who should bear the cost of car repairs and hospital bills.

Requesting an Accident Report After an Accident in Ceres

If you require your accident report, you’ll need to visit the Records Department in the lobby of the police department. You’ll bring your photo ID with you.

You should wait at least 7 business days before you inquire about your report. The officer needs time to complete the investigation and write up a crash report.

You can visit the department Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, but it’s closed for all major holidays.

When you attempt to get a copy of your report, you’ll need to prove that you are someone involved in the accident. That can include:

  • Driver, passenger
  • Victim or guardian of a victim
  • The owner of a vehicle involved
  • Someone mentioned in the report
  • A Lawyer for a party involved in the incident
  • The insurance provider for a party involved in the incident

You can contact the Records Division at (209) 538-5714 with questions.

A police report is usually $20. If you want photos that were taken at the scene, you’ll pay another $20.

Remember that if you have a lawyer handling your car accident claim, your attorney will get the collision report for you. Your insurance company may also seek the report in a property damage-only case.

How Can I Obtain a Collision Report from The California Highway Patrol?

If a CHP officer investigates your accident, perhaps along Highway 99, you can request it online. However, you should wait at least 7 days to allow for the report to be completed and submitted.

Through the Mail or in Person: You’ll need to go to the California Highway Patrol website to get a CHP 190 report form.

You can fill it out and drop it off in person at the CHP office nearest to you or mail it in. You can find a list of all of the CHP offices here.

The  CHP office in Modesto will likely be the closest location.

Contact a Ceres Car Accident Lawyer

If your injuries are serious, such as broken bones, you may require a lawyer’s help to get the full injury compensation you’ll need to recover. When medical costs skyrocket, insurers fight harder to avoid blame. They may blame you, or they may try to downplay your injuries.

A lawyer provides a safeguard for these well-known but shady tactics.  And a Ceres Car Accident Lawyer can also often get you much more than you could by handling your case yourself.

Contact Maison Law of Ceres for a free case consultation with a real lawyer without any obligation. We can help all injured victims in Stanislaus County.

And if you end up needing our help to earn more, you don’t have to worry about how you’ll pay an attorney. Maison Law works on a contingency basis, which means we don’t get paid unless your case is won. If it’s a success, the attorney’s fee is paid out of the settlement money you receive.
