Arbin Perez-Chaparro, 29, Killed in Crash on I-5 near Ingram Creek Rd in Stanislaus County

Stanislaus County, CA — On the evening of Saturday, October 17, 2026, 29-year-old Arbin Perez-Chaparro, of Santa Nella, lost his life in a rollover crash on Interstate 5, according to the Merced Sun-Star via Yahoo! News.

At approximately 9:10 PM, the California Highway Patrol’s Modesto division responded to a report of an accident on southbound Interstate 5 north of Ingram Creek Road near Westley in west Stanislaus County.

Emergency responders arriving on the scene discovered a 2002 white Honda sedan in the center of the I-5 median, where the vehicle had overturned onto its roof.

According to initial investigations, the Honda left the road, for reasons yet to be determined, struck the guardrail of the center divider, and rolled over.

Perez-Chaparro was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office. His loved ones have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for his family at this difficult time.

It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. This is an ongoing investigation.

Modesto Fatal Car Accidents and Wrongful Death Claims

It cannot be assumed that a driver always bears entire responsibility in a single-vehicle collision. If the negligence of an outside party, like the vehicle manufacturer or a government entity responsible for roadside maintenance, also contributed to the fatal accident, Perez-Chaparro’s family may have grounds for a wrongful death claim.

A wrongful death claim can help to recover damages such as funeral expenses and the loss of support and companionship provided by the deceased. However, any settlement may be reduced if negligence on the driver’s part shares in liability.
