Tracy, CA — In the late afternoon of Friday, October 16, 2026, a multi-vehicle collision resulted in a man from Tracy losing his life, according to FOX40, with additional details from The Tracy Press and CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place at approximately 4:56 PM on Kasson Road, north of Linne Rd, in a rural area of east Tracy, near Douma Dairy.
According to investigators, a Toyota Tacoma driven by a 43-year-old male driver traveling northbound on Kasson Road attempted to pass a Peterbilt big rig driven by a 58-year-old Modesto man for CalFreight, but had “insufficient clearance.” As a result, the Toyota crossed into the southbound lanes.
A 26-year-old male motorcyclist from Manteca riding a Fengyuan scooter-style motorcycle southbound on Kasson Road reportedly avoided the Toyota by swerving into the west shoulder. However, a 1994 Honda sedan, which had been also traveling southbound behind the motorcycle, and the Toyota collided head-on.
CHP stated that the force of impact caused the Honda to then crash into the motorcycle, while the Toyota collided with the Peterbilt, resulting in the Honda and Toyota overturning and coming to rest on the west shoulder.
The Honda driver, described as a 22-year-old man from Tracy, lost his life due to injuries sustained in the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcyclist reported only minor injuries.
Emergency responders transported the Toyota driver to San Joaquin General Hospital for treatment of major injuries. He was subsequently arrested by CHP, who suspect alcohol to have been a factor in the accident.
Debris from the collision created a significant road hazard, and Kasson Road was closed around the area for several hours following the crash.
