Pedestrian Injured in Floyd Ave, Coffee Rd Crash in Modesto

Modesto, CA — Late in the afternoon of Sunday, October 18, 2026, a pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle, according to FOX40, with additional details from CBS Sacramento.

A Modesto police officer responded to the accident at approximately 4:33 PM at Floyd Avenue and Coffee Road, a high-traffic intersection near a bus stop in a retail area of northern Modesto.

According to investigators, the pedestrian was attempting to cross Floyd Avenue in a crosswalk when they were struck by a vehicle turning left onto southbound Coffee Road. Emergency responders transported the pedestrian to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The driver involved in the accident stayed at the crash site and cooperated with authorities. Modesto PD stated that impairment does not appear to have played a role in this accident.

The investigation is ongoing.

Modesto Pedestrian Accidents and Personal Injury Claims

California law requires drivers to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks, and failure to do so may meet the legal definition of negligence.

Even in accidents where no criminal charges are filed, victims of pedestrian accidents may still have grounds to pursue a personal injury claim. A personal injury claim can provide compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages associated with the accident.

If the pedestrian is found partly at fault, their settlement may be reduced, but that does not prohibit them from receiving at least partial compensation.
