Fresno, CA – On the evening of Thursday, September 10, 2026, a pedestrian collision left a man in a wheelchair critically injured, according to KSEE/KGPE.
The Fresno Police Department reports that the accident took place around 8:15 PM on West Avenue just south of Shields Avenue, a mixed residential and commercial corridor in central Fresno.
Authorities said witnesses reported the man was crossing the road outside of a crosswalk when he was struck. The driver was reportedly traveling under the speed limit but was unable to see the man due to his dark clothing. Officers arrived to find him lying unconscious in the road. He was transported to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
