Bakersfield, CA – On the evening of Sunday, August 23, 2026, a hit-and-run involving an off-road motorcycle left a pedestrian injured and led to the arrest of two men, according to KBAK.
The Bakersfield Police Department reports that the accident took place around 6:52 PM on the Kern River Trail west of Riverwalk Park.
Authorities said a woman walking on the trail was struck by an off-road motorcycle. As a result of the impact, she sustained minor injuries. During the investigation, officers located two men riding off-road motorcycles on the trail near the undercrossing at South Allen Road. The men initially attempted to evade officers but were detained after one of the motorcycles became disabled in the riverbed.
Both men were arrested on suspicion of charges related to the incident, and both motorcycles were impounded.
The Bakersfield Police Department reminded the public that motorized vehicles are prohibited on the Kern River Trail, noting that operating them there poses an inherent danger to pedestrians, bicyclists, and other trail users. Class 1 and Class 2 electric bicycles are exempt from this prohibition. Police encouraged trail users to follow all posted regulations.
