Meadow Vista, CA – On the afternoon of Sunday, August 2, 2026, a collision in a residential driveway resulted in the death of a 14-month-old child, according to FOX40.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the incident took place around 2:37 PM in the 700 block of Meadow Gate Road.
Authorities said the child’s father was moving a Chevrolet pickup truck within the driveway when the collision occurred. The driver reported seeing the child near the driveway before repositioning the vehicle, and felt an impact as the vehicle moved forward before immediately stopping.
He then discovered the child had been struck and notified his wife, who called 911. Fire department personnel pronounced the child dead at the scene.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to have been factors in the incident. CHP Auburn Area Commander Captain Andy Beasley extended condolences to the family during what he described as an extraordinarily difficult time. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
Placer County Car Accidents and Wrongful Death Claims
Even in heartbreaking fatal accidents like this one, where the person behind the wheel of the vehicle has a close relationship with the victim who lost their life, families may find that they need to make a wrongful death claim to receive compensation for the expenses required to lay their loved one to rest.
At such sensitive times, a personal injury attorney may be able to offer guidance to grieving families as to options regarding their insurance provider. They may also be able to take some of the burden of filing a claim off a family that has suffered such a terrible loss.
